Rarely reaching heights above 5m tall, the ARBUTUS unedo produces dark green glossy leaves and a red berry strawberry-like edible fruit. Although the fruits are edible, many people find them very bland and therefore they are often used as a natural source of wildbird food or to make jams and jellies. Best planted in a sheltered position due to its late flowering habit.
